Wide Receiver position...

As we all know by now, Jerry Jones has stuck the carrott out there to dangle in the form of Miles Austin. Jerry has been telling everyone that will listen that he will be the Cowboys new #2 wide receiver in 2009. Do you really belive what he is telling you? I mean we are talking about a receiver with like, what, 18 career catches? Jerry Jones also wants you to believe that because of the upcoming potential uncapped year in 2010 he does not want to draft in the first round this year. I do not know about any of you but I am not buying into what Mr. Jones is trying to sell to the media and to his fans and his opponets.

Miles Austin is what he is, a very nice project. He is a undrafted product out of Monmouth, NJ. If the New York football Jets want to sign him to a restricted contract offer, well you know what, I have a pen that you can use to sign the contract. Then after the signing, please forward that #52 pick in the upcoming draft. Why you ask? I will tell you. Jerry wants up into that first round badly, he will not be willing to admit to the public that he overspent to get a middle of the road wide receiver named Roy Williams. Now he wants to cover his basis and tell the world how great Miles Austin will be so that he can pry an extra pick out of the draft and trade up to get a "first" round talent wide receiver.

So when you see Heyward-Bey, Kenny Britt, Percy Harvin or Hakeem Nicks in a Dallas Cowboys uniform next year, do not be remotely surprised. Jerry Jones is a pationate owner and he wants to win more than probably any of us. But unlike the rest of us, Jerry does not want to own up to his mistakes.
